WATCH: Karoline Leavitt Reveals Trump’s Plan to Not Tax Social Security

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently illustrated the Trump administration’s plans to remove taxes on numerous items, including social security.  Leavitt touted President Donald Trump’s critically acclaimed plans, which include scrapping taxes on senior citizens, social security, overtime pay, and more. The concept is being celebrated as the largest tax cut in history for middle-class Americans.

Speaking to reporters the press secretary said, “So these are the tax priorities of the Trump decisions that the President has laid out for members in that meeting today. No tax on tips, which is obviously a very public campaign promise the President made.”  Outlining specifics, Leavitt continued, “No tax on seniors, Social Security, no tax on overtime pay, renewing President Trump’s 2017, middle-class tax cuts.”

Leavitt added, “Again, these are the President’s priorities. Adjusting the SALT cap. Eliminate all the special tax breaks for billionaire sports team owners. Close the carried interest tax deduction loophole, tax cuts for made-in-America products.”  She emphasized that the cuts would be made of historic proportions. “This will be the largest tax cut in history for middle-class working Americans. The President is committed to working with Congress to get this done,” Leavitt said.

Last year, The American Tribune reported on a major statement from Trump regarding his tax plans during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.”  At the time, the president suggested “there is a way” to entirely eliminate income tax. Trump cited historical evidence of better alternatives to generate money than taxing the incomes of hard-working Americans.

The president was asked, “Which is going to generate an abundance of revenue. Also with the tariffs that you’ve spoken of. So, my question is with all this extra revenue we’re going to be bringing into the country. So, do you believe at some point in time we could find a way, once the country is back on its feet and getting enough revenue and paid off our debt, do you think it’s possible to find a way to eliminate federal taxes?”

“There is a way,” he initially responded.  “In the old days, when we were smart, when we were a smart country in the 1890s and all, this is when the country was relatively the richest it ever was. It had all tariffs. It didn’t have an income tax,” he added. “Okay, now we have income taxes and we have people that are dying, they’re paying tax and they don’t have the money to pay the tax.”

Referencing successful policy employed in America’s distant past, Trump noted, “You know, in the old days, 1890, 1880, we had so much money they had to set up committees, blue ribbon committees, how to spend our wealth.” Trump illustrated the abundance of wealth that was produced from this policy, stating, “We had no idea how to spend, it was so much money.”  Watch Leavitt below:

“Then we went to the income tax system and the rest is sort of history.” He said, maintaining that there is a way forward that doesn’t necessitate taxing income, “But no, there is a way. I mean, if we, if what I’m planning comes out — it’s a great question, by the way,” Trump concluded, optimistic about the potential of his idea.
