Farmer Plants 1,000 Oak Trees to Create Memorial for Late Wife

A farmer’s affection for his deceased wife is immortalized in a heart-shaped grove of 1,000 oak trees, a beautiful tribute unveiled 17 years later.

In 1995, Winston Howes, a farmer from Gloucestershire, England, embarked on a touching endeavor to commemorate his late wife, Janet. He planted 1,000 oak trees on his land, forming a peaceful and lasting symbol of their everlasting love.

For many years, the grove served as a serene private memorial. Although neighbors valued it, its profound meaning went largely unrecognized. In 2012, an aerial image uncovered a remarkable secret: at the heart of the grove lay a heart-shaped clearing, ideally aligned to face Janet’s childhood home
